What is work, and why do we do it? In this interactive inspirational session, philosopher and People & Culture Consultant Sven Hogervorst will take you on a philosophical journey through our thinking about work, humanity, and organization.
In the inspirational session " Why HX?" we explore how ideas about work have been shaped throughout the centuries and what that says about how we work and organize today. Drawing on thinkers like Aristotle, Karl Marx, Hannah Arendt, and Michel Foucault, we explore how philosophy can help us question dominant assumptions about work and create space for a more human, meaningful, and sustainable way of working.
What you learn
- Gain insight into how great thinkers throughout time have viewed work and humanity.
- Reflections on our current work culture and why much work is perceived as meaningless or exhausting.
-
New perspectives on the future of work and the role of HX, love and care in organizations.
The program
The session consists of two parts. Sven opens with an interactive lecture connecting philosophical insights to current issues regarding work, organization, and meaning. Then, in small groups, you'll discuss your own experiences, beliefs, and dilemmas: what does a future truly centered on humanity look like?
